About
I was born and still live on the South Side of Chicago. From the time I was little, I always had an interest in art. I attended Alan B. Shepard H.S. in Palos Heights, Illinois, where I was introduced to Graphic Design by Ms. Jan Meister. By my Senior year, I was a fixture in the Art Department, spending six periods a day there. I earned a scholarship to The Illinois Institute of Art (formerly Ray-Vogue School of Design) in Chicago.
There, I studied Visual Communications and got a part-time job at Access Direct Marketing in Oak Brook, Illinois. There, I was the graphic designer, working directly under the president, Edward A. Sakoff, a veteran of advertising and marketing in Chicago. In 1999, I was offered a full-time position and left school.
In 2002, Mr. Sakoff passed away and the company was closed. I started doing freelance work while earning a living as an Inventory Control clerk at a local warehouse. In 2005, inspired by Bob Newhart, I decided to go back to school and finished my Bachelors degree, in 2007. During that period I worked as the graphic designer at TG Printing, Inc. in Crestwood, Illinois.
Since 2007, I have been the Graphic Designer at SMG Directory Marketing in Bannockburn, Illinois, creating print and interactive designs for multiple clients. For my work at SMG Directory Marketing, I won a 2009 American In-House Design Award, a 2009 American Web Design Award, and SMG Directory Marketing's 2008 Employee of the Year Award. |
